Welcome to Seasonal Sundays. We’ve been on a road trip!
It’s hard to believe that it’s that time already, but my son is beginning his college search. This past week, we packed ourselves in our car (5 people and 2 dogs!) and headed off to begin exploring some of the many colleges in Pennsylvania.
While the main goal of the trip was to explore the colleges, it’s such fun to explore all of the towns along the way.
We had a wonderful stay in Bethlehem at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. And yes, they allow fluffy ones to stay too!
It’s a Historic Hotel of America, part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The attention to detail is amazing. Above is a photo f the entry floor of the elevator.
While Bethlehem is well known for being a center of heavy industry during the industrial revolution and for Bethlehem Steel, it is also known as Christmas City, USA with it’s accompanying star. The photo above is of the center of the elevator floor at the Hotel.
Of course one of the best ways to explore a town is to explore it’s shops!
You just never know what you will find!!!
This road trip had another bonus! I got to meet and visit with Yvonne of Stone Gable
. We had a wonderful visit and just couldn’t stop talking. I’m sure you’ll be happy to know that she will be returning to blog land. Such a gracious hostess!
So what have you been up to? If I didn’t make it to your post from last week, you know that my road trip was the reason why. I can’t wait to read all of your fun posts for this week!

Sounds like a great trip and I know it was wonderful for you, meeting Yvonne!
I've been missing here for a couple of weeks. :( But I'll be back when my surgery is over and I've rested the old eyes a bit. I think it is fantastic that two premier bloggers, hostesses, and all around fabulous ladies got to meet and spend time. xo
Hi! I have been wanting to stay in Bethlehem and now I will definitely make the trip! So exciting to hear Yvonne will be back and SOOOOO exciting to hear the college search has begun! My daughter is a college admissions officer so we are now seeing it from the other side! It is quite interesting and you will have some tough decisions ahead! Have a wonderful weekend! Linda

How fun you could squeeze in some shopping time & visit with Yvonne while visiting colleges... a daunting process selecting one I'm sure! Thanks for having me this week :)
oooo I remember the college hunting. My son decided late in the year, so we had to do some scrambling, but thankfully he was accepted in the college of his choice. He will be completing his second year ;-)
What fun to be exploring collages, especially with the entire family. Glad you and Yvonne met up. I know that was a special time. Needless to say, I'm thrilled she is considering a return to blogging. I've missed her beautiful tables.
Sounds like you really enjoyed your trip. Your photos are super!

Oh my, The fun has just begun. Keep your checkbook handy for the next few years. I have two grandsons graduating in May, one day and then the next.
They are brothers. One will be finishing masters program and the other bachelors. My daughter is elated. She say it will be like getting a raise. Hope they find jobs.
Enjoy this time of your life. It will be facinating.
Blessings, Ginger
Lucky you to get to meet up with Yvonne. How fast the young ones grow up. I bet the trip was filled with lots of excitement, but might have been a bit bittersweet too. Thanks for hosting. xo marlis

How fun that you got to meet and spend time with Yvonne! It's great that she's returning to blog land.
It's quite a job looking at colleges, but fun too, I thought. Paying for it is not so much fun. ;)
I really liked this post. I was so excited to see your pictures of Bethlehem,PA, as my parents and sister all go to the Moravian church here. Our town was originally founded by Moravians. I'm going to share this post with my mom.
Thanks again for hosting and have a great week!

I forgot to ask you if you had a chance to have tea at Granny McCarthy's tea room in Bethlehem? A cute place. I like visiting there, stopping at the Sands, eating at one of Emeril's restaurants. xo
What an adventurous road trip! I want to go to the Moravian bookstore. I could spend hours there. Good luck to your son!
Great travel photos-would love to visit, too.
What a trip!
All the best to your son and thanks for hosting :)
Oh, the memories of the road trips visiting colleges - what a wonderful time in a young person's life! Thanks for the travelogue, as well. You did see some interesting shops and the hotel looks wonderful!
What a fun road trip! I love poking through little shops in towns. Thank you for hosting such a great party!
Hi, so happy to be back on Seasonal Sundays! We love Bethlehem too. A great tapas bar is the Apollo - a huge yummy list of delicious tapas that we love eating right at the bar. Another sweet little restaurant a little outside of the downtown is Bolete - a small restaurant in an adorable stone house. Great chef and delicious food! We always told our kids (tongue in cheek) that they needed to choose a college in a town or city with great restaurants -we love to eat!! Ciao, bella! xxoo
Your blog is beautiful! I enjoyed reading about your trip - and I just LOVE the photos of all the ducks! =) Thank you for sharing and thank you for hosting this!
Beautiful pictures I love the light post. I always wanted to go there.
This is my kind of college tour! Family, friends, shopping and sightseeing!! When my youngest was doing the tours, we loaded the car with moms and daughters so it became a mother/daughter event and I still cherish the memories.
Happy Seasonal Sunday!
What a fun road/college hunting trip for you & the family! How great that you & Yvonne were able to spend time together. Thank you letting us know that she will be back...hooray!! Thank you, too, for hosting SS!!
I love Bethlehem, PA! Years ago when David and I lived in Middleburg, Virginia, we took a trip up to Bethlehem and stayed in that very same hotel. We had our first Yorkie ~ Bitterman back then and he always traveled with us. Bitterman was a very well behaved little gentleman and the hotel staff fell in love with him and made a special point of inviting HIM back whenever we came to town. Needless to say, we have very fond memories of that hotel and the very charming town as well. I also remember having a very lovely dinner there.
Thanks for giving me pleasant memories to think of this Sunday and thanks for hosting!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

What a fun trip and your photos are so well done. Some of those shops look wonderful. Now I want to go. So glad to hear about Yvonne. She stopped her blog about 2 weeks after I started blogging and I was just heartsick. She is such a genuine, caring person. Both of you are mentors to me without you knowing. And I so appreciate your beautiful blog. You inspire me!!
Hugs dear friend!

What a fun trip -- it is always a shocker when we realize our first born is about ready to leave the nest, isn't it?
Always looove a road trip ... but probably not the one where you have to leave your baby at college!

Now THAT is one season I remember well. It was so fun to visit the colleges. Mine ended up going to the same one after all that searching. I really didn't think that would happen, but it did.
I'm so glad you had a nice time with Yvonne. I had a feeling that when she had a well deserved rest, she would consider a return. I have a great deal of respect for her for putting God first.
I remember making this trip with both of our kids when they began to explore options for college. Such an important time for our children...and we enjoyed the blessing of sharing the experience with them. Thanks yet again for hosting us for Seasonal Sundays. Cherry Kay
What a fabulous get away! I simply love the duck store. Finding my inner duck -- I need to do that!
Thanks so much for taking us along!
